Marching Band Takes State and Places 8th at BOA

Picture
For the first time ever, the Lone Peak Marching Band was named State Champions! They traveled all the way to St. George to compete in two competitions: Red Rocks and BOA. Red Rocks was the first competition the band performed in. They had an amazing performance that blew the judges way! When it was announced that the Knights won first in every caption, they were thrilled! Even some tears were shed due to the excitement the students were feeling. The Lone Peak Band deserved it though.  They have worked so hard this year. Probably harder than they have ever worked before!
But that's not all.  The Knights competed in another competition the very next day: Bands of America. This competition had twenty two bands.  Once they've all performed, the judges choose the ten best bands and have them perform again, then decide which band will take first.  And for the first time in many years, the Lone Peak Marching Band was chosen to compete in the BOA Finals! When they got on the field to perform their show for the last time, everyone-whether they were in the stands or on the field-could tell that the Knights gave the best show they could possibly give.  When they finished the show, everybody in the stands stood up and gave Lone Peak a standing ovation. Wow! Once the rest of the bands performed, it was time to line up and hear the scores.  The LP band was overjoyed to hear that they placed 8th out of 22 bands in the Western  ! All their hard work truly paid off! Congratulations to the Lone Peak Marching Knights! What a great way to end the season. They've worked hard, played hard, and performed hard. Now it's time to start preparing for next year!

Lone Peak Band Places First at Mt. Timpanogos

Picture
That's right.  The band takes first again at the Mt. Timpanogos Competition on October 27th! It was just one of those amazing moments where everyone walked off the field thinking,  "Wow. That was an amazing performance." Most of the judges thought that too! They gave the music, visual, and percussion award to the Knights! Unfortunately, the color guard judge at this competition was off his rocker, and did not give the award to Lone Peak, even though our guard had a flawless performance.  Click on the link below, you can watch the Lone Peak Knights show Coulrophobia, and see how much our color guard rocks it!

Marching Band Sweeps Again!

Picture
The Lone Peak Marching Band is on fire this season! One October 16th, the band competed in the Davis Cup Competition.  When they arrived at Davis High School, a huge storm started to blow in. This wasn't going to stop the band. Even in the wind and rain, they did all of their warm ups, eagerly waiting for their turn to perform.  When it was their turn to take the field, they marched on with all the confidence they had.  And as always, the LP Marching Band had an outstanding performance! They definitely impressed the judges; one of them even commented saying, "Tasty, tasty, tasty!!" At the award ceremony, the marching band and staff patiently waited to hear their score.  The announcer wasted no time, and quickly informed the Knights that best percussion, color guard, visual, and music went to Lone Peak! They were given a score of 807 points. 45 points higher than the second place 3A band! Good job Knights! Keep up the good work!

Marching Band Places 3rd at BYU

Picture
The Lone Peak band had a HUGE accomplishment at the Rocky Mountain Invitational on October 9th at BYU.  The band was the only 3A band there, so they had to compete in the 4A division. Not only that, but they added their 4th and 5th movements to the show, performing them for the first time this season. This didn't discourage the Knights though. They got on the field and showed all who were watching what they were made of. When the judges announced the winners of the 4A bands,  the marching band was happy-and maybe even surprised-to hear that they took 3rd! Even though they were the smallest in their division, the Lone Peak Marching Knights still did their best and had an amazing performance.

Marching Band Sweeps at Nebo

Picture
The Lone Peak Marching Band had a phenomenal performance at Nebo! On Sept 29th, the band loaded up the buses, and drove up to the competition.  After warming up, the band took the field and showed the judges who's boss. They played an amazing show, and when they finished, one of the staff members overheard a person in the stands yell, "That freaking gave me goosebumps!!" The Lone Peak band walked off the field with huge smiles. Every one of them did their best to show the audience what they had been working so hard for.  The judges were able to see that. When award ceremonies started, the band found out that they took first in every single caption, and beat the rest of the 3A bands by 106 points! Congrats to the Lone Peak Marching Band and a big thanks to all the staff and parents who help the band succeed.
